Class Evaluation

  1. Throughout this year I have had a lot of fun mixed with some serious moments of course. We had to study for the AP exam which was very time consuming, but because it was such a small class we went through it very fast. Also I feel like we all bonded because it was such a small class.
  2. At the top of my head there isn't much I didn't enjoy about this class. Obviously, I didn't like doing some of the more tedious assignments. Other than that I enjoyed everything else in the class.
  3. For next years AP course I would recommend showing demonstrations of more sights that you can use to create the performance tasks. I would also spend more time practicing the multiple choice.
  4. A highlight for me in the class was learning new skills about computers. It definitely interested me enough to continue studying computers in college. I have even thought about making a career out of it.
  5. I believe if I understood the material more I would have done better. I know that if I really wanted to excel in computers I would have to take a computers class in college.
  6. I haven't had as much free time as I'd wished. I would like to say that I have been reading it everyday but I have had to cut it down to once a week. I know that eventually once I have more free time I will get back into my life planning notebook but I just can't find the time to do it.
  7. I know that I am not perfect but with dedication I can reach anything. This is why I arete is something I will live by the rest of my life. I want to be a good writer and a good person. I am learning new things everyday so I know that eventually I will reach excellence.

Senior Camping Trip

For the first time ever I went camping. This weekend was filled with a lot of new things. I did things that I never thought I was able to do. I did rock climbing! Despite being deathly afraid of heights I climbed the wall. I had to do it twice but I did it. I also participated in paintball and started socializing with people I never thought I'd talk to. Overall the weekend was great and I wish I could go back.

Class Evaluation

  1. What I liked about this course was that I learned how to apply what I do in my life into what we learn. I learned about a lot of things that I never really understood. I liked how all of the lessons led up to one another. It was like, "Here's one lesson, now here's the bigger picture."
  2. I didn't like the grading system. At the beginning of the semester if you missed one assignment it would bring down your grade by a lot and it would take a while to get back where you were at.
  3. I would say that the class doesn't need any improving. We are learning at a good pace and the material is easy enough to understand.
  4. I think the highlight of this class was that one time I told Mr. Haymore to run Jordi over with his car. I felt like we actually got to know him so it helped me look forward to coming to this class.
  5. I believe I really did my best. There was just some lessons that took me a while longer than everyone else to understand but other than that I was able to keep up with the work.
  6. I am trying to learn the concepts of computer science. By doing this I know I will qualify for college credit.
  7. Yes, I am reading my life planning goals journal. I feel like it has helped me keep up with my plans throughout this semester. It is a reminder of what I want to do with my life so reading it encourages me to go to school.
  8. I am committed to being the best version of myself. I know that this is the only way I will achieve my goals no matter how high some of them may be.

The Internet Changes the World

Image result for social mediaThe innovation I decided on was social media. In the last few years social media has boomed. We have outlets like instagram, twitter, facebook just to name a few that millenials use as a way to say what they feel with little judgement. Despite the negative impact it has had on society social media can be helpful in the way that people can connect with their friends even when they are seperated by distance. Also social media has alowed people to become more cultured and understanding. In a way you can say that social media has influence a generation to become more understanding of one anothers forms of living. Also there have been countless situations where social media has saved lives. For example there was a a group of snowborders got lost in the swiss alps. By using twitter they were able to find each other. I find that this innovation is very useful in this day in age because of the way we can connect with one another. I can send a message to someone in China and they will recieve that message within seconds.

Computer Science Innovation: 360 View Helmet

This camera allows you to have a 360 degree view of your surroundings while you are bicycling. This helmet in addition to the extra eyes also has a built in GPS. This helmet will help prevent 20,000 cycling casualties that occur yearly. It is said that this helmet will also be able to connect to bluetooth. The tecnology isn't the helmet itself but the visor that comes with it. I believe this innovation is very creative. You can tell that someone put a lot of thought into making this device. I'd like to see how Google Glass is incorporated into this helmet as mentioned in the article.

Ben Carson

Ben Carson is a successful neurosergeon with humble backgrounds. He is the only person to successfully seperate siamese twins. Over the course of his career Carson has made several medical advances for the neurosergical field. He became the man he is today because of the work ethic given to him by his mother who worked three jobs at a time to take care of her family as a single mother. After finishing high school he went on to study at Yale then to University of Michigan Medical School. Technology Carson used that impacted his Arete experience could have been MRI's which are used to see inside the body. I think what Ben Carson did was revolutionary. Not only did he become the first person to perform thesse procedures but he was also a black man. At the time he was studying this could have hindered his Arete experience but it didn't. Instead of staying in the hole of poverty he made his life better by studying.
