The Internet Changes the World

Image result for social mediaThe innovation I decided on was social media. In the last few years social media has boomed. We have outlets like instagram, twitter, facebook just to name a few that millenials use as a way to say what they feel with little judgement. Despite the negative impact it has had on society social media can be helpful in the way that people can connect with their friends even when they are seperated by distance. Also social media has alowed people to become more cultured and understanding. In a way you can say that social media has influence a generation to become more understanding of one anothers forms of living. Also there have been countless situations where social media has saved lives. For example there was a a group of snowborders got lost in the swiss alps. By using twitter they were able to find each other. I find that this innovation is very useful in this day in age because of the way we can connect with one another. I can send a message to someone in China and they will recieve that message within seconds.

Computer Science Innovation: 360 View Helmet

This camera allows you to have a 360 degree view of your surroundings while you are bicycling. This helmet in addition to the extra eyes also has a built in GPS. This helmet will help prevent 20,000 cycling casualties that occur yearly. It is said that this helmet will also be able to connect to bluetooth. The tecnology isn't the helmet itself but the visor that comes with it. I believe this innovation is very creative. You can tell that someone put a lot of thought into making this device. I'd like to see how Google Glass is incorporated into this helmet as mentioned in the article.

Computer Science Innovation: Genome Editing

Image result for dnaThis innovation uses a DNA engineering known as CRISPR. Using CRISPR allows scientists to decide which genes they want in a fertilized egg. This innovation will impact scientists who research diseases. This research may lead to cures of many common diseases that as well as brain disorders such as Alzheimer's and autism. The way this would work is that scientists would be able to identify what gene causes certain diseases. I believe that this innovation is the future of the biomedical field. In the future we may not have to worry about these diseases.

Computer Science Innovation: Self Tying Shoelaces

The innovation I chose was self tying shoelaces, similar to the shoes that appeared in the famous film, Back to the Future II. These shoes use a device that can tell how tight your shoes should be. Though they were promoted as the shoes that appeared in a film almost thirty years ago they were created to help people with Parkinson's. people with have uncontrollable tremor that may make it difficult to do everyday tasks such as eating or tying shoelaces. The profit for these shoes will go to research for a cure for Parkinson's and there may be more in development. I think this innovation is very cool. I just hope that these shoes are not too expensive so that they may be available for everyone.

Computer Science Innovations: Artificial Synapses

This innovation is a computer that mimics the brain and its functions. This innovation helps scientists create computer that function like brains. With computers that operate like brains it could help replace traditional electronics that do not detect patterns as well as cannot learn. I think this innovation is very cool. If there is a computer that functions like a brain it will be the most efficient computer.

Computer Science Innovations: Imaging System

A new imaging system can read closed books. “The Metropolitan Museum in New York showed a lot of interest in this, because they want to, for example, look into some antique books that they don’t even want to touch,” says Barmak Heshmat, a research scientist at the MIT Media Lab.
This innovation can read closed books (up to the first nine pages). This algorithm can even read incomplete or distorted letters. This innovation will help researchers who do not want to damage antique books touch. I think that this innovation is very creative however there is room for improvement. Currently it can only read up to 9 pages so researchers for example will only be able to read the first nine pages of antique books. After that you have to just take a guess on what the rest of the book is about.

Computer Science Innovation: Crash-tolerant storage

  1. Has your computer ever completely crashed? It's hard to trust any computers with your important information because from one second to another you can lose all of that information. With this innovation however you no longer have to worry about that. It is guaranteed to not lose track of your storage during a crash.
  2. This will impact everyone who keeps anything important on their computers. For example, teachers will not have to worry about losing important assignments on their computers.
  3. This will solve the problem with computer crashes. You will no longer have to worry about your computer crashing at any given moment and losing everything on your computer.
  4. I think that this innovation is very important in our world right now because everything is becoming digital.

Computer Science Innovation: Sarcasm

  1. In the near future computers may be able to detect sarcasm.
  2. This will be helpful to government agencies who are responsible for finding online threats. This also may be helpful to people who sell online products. They will be able to tell if people are mocking their products or genuine.
  3. It will help people to distinguish whether another person is mocking them or if they are being serious.
  4. I believe that this innovation is very interesting because it can be useful to everyone. in person you can always detect sarcasm but once your behind a computer it may be difficult to detect. This may help people avoid the awkward question, "Are you being sarcastic?"

Computer Science Innovations: Ecommerce

Image result for Online shopping
Ecommerce, or online shopping, is a form of shopping that allows you to buy directly online. With years of enhancing this innovation we are now able to use this on several different types of devices, such as laptops, desktop computers, and tablets. This innovation is essential for people who do not have the ability to leave their home. Contrary to what many believe ecommerce is not just buying clothes online. We can now order groceries and have them delivered all at home. People with certain disabilities can now have this luxury. This innovation solves problems such as overcrowding at shopping centers and grocery stores. I think this innovation is great because I benefit from it. I do not have to waste my time shopping at stores and instead can spend that time doing something else.

Internet

The internet is a global system used to connect people from all over the world. It is very helpful in the way that people know what is happening instead of having to wait months to find out about an even that has happened on the other side of the world. It serves all types of networks that may need it. It impacts everyonein a good and bad way because we can now learn about different cultures from a first hand source. However it can be dangerous at times to put yourself on the internet because you don't know who will come across your personal information or what they will do with it. In my opinion the internet is a great innovation because of all of the things I have learned about the world.
